The Revolution known by many
as the Rock Revolution began with
Music groups like the Beatles,
the Doors, the Rolling Stones,
Hendrix & the Queen of Rock:
Janis Joplin

In order to understand the 60s,
you should take a look back at
what came before. In New York,
during the late 50s, the Village
Voice was born out of a Bohemian
"Beatnik"Culture that spawned free
thinking.

Cultural Awareness came at a
time when America had its own
royalty. The Kennedy's arrived in
Washington, and a new Camelot
was born! Today, we are left wondering: what would the world be like if it had lasted?

After the death of JFK, Bobby Kennedy
won the Democratic Nomination for
President. He gave a stirring speech
at the Ambassador Hotel in LA
just before he too was killed.

But the Spirit behind Rock n Roll
started as a political shift in
America. Starting with the radical
thinking of S.D.S. and the F.S.M.
(Students for a Democratic Society
and the Free Speech Movement)

Fighting for Civil Rights and an
End to the Vietnam War,
groupies ushered in an era of
free thinking that launched
what is now known as the "60s".
As seen in "way out" Hairstyles.

But most of all, this period is known
for experimentation of drugs like
LSD, Mushrooms, Uppers, Downers and of course Mary Jane...

The Drugs tranquilized the people to
the harshness of police brutality like
the incidents at
Columbia University & Kent State.

After Riots in Watts, CA, The US Gov't
developed a way to combat the
outbreak of Democracy in America.
Ironically, this became
THE OFFICIAL SOLUTION
TO DEAL WITH
CIVIL DISORDERS.
